The New Mexico Black Lawyers Association will hold a happy hour celebration on November 18, 2022 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (MT) at Hollow Spirits Distillery to commemorate the organization’s 40th anniversary, the 25th anniversary of its Johnnie Cochran scholarship, and the 75th anniversary of the University of New Mexico School of Law. The event is free and appetizers and drinks will be provided by NMBLA. The goal of this event is to raise funds for the Hannah Banks Best Scholarship for Law School Diversity and the Johnnie Cochran Scholarship. NMBLA strongly encourages members and attendees to make a meaningful donation to either or both scholarships. We hope to raise at least $25,000 for each scholarship, which help create a pipeline to the legal profession for Black youth. You may donate online here: https://www.unmfund.org/fund/other/ (on page 2, be sure to indicate the “Hannah Banks Best Scholarship for Law Student Diversity” and/or Cochran Scholarship in the Comments or Instructions box at the bottom of the page and indicate the amount to be donated to each. In the alternative, you may bring a check to the happy hour event on November 18, 2022.
