Divisions

The State Bar Paralegal Division was formally organized in August 1995 to serve the needs of legal assistants throughout the state. The  Division pursues the following specific goals: to encourage a high order of ethical and professional attainment; to further education among its members; to carry out programs within the State Bar; and to establish good fellowship among Division members, the State Bar, and the members of the legal community.

The State Bar Senior Lawyers Division seeks to uphold the honor of the profession of law and apply the knowledge and experience of senior attorneys to the promotion of the public good. The Division promotes the special interests of the senior lawyer; plans and carries out programs, publications and activities of interest to the senior lawyer; and protects the lawful rights of the senior citizens of the state. Membership in this Division consists of all members of the State Bar who are 55 years of age or older and who have practiced law for 25 years or more. Click here to learn more about the Senior Lawyers Division.

The State Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) promotes the integrity and respect of the legal profession, provide services and outreach to its members, and supports and encourages public service. The YLD was formed as a section in the early 1960s and was known as the "Junior Bar". In 1978 the section became the Young Lawyer Division, which is an affiliate of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. All State Bar members under the age of 36 as well as those who have been admitted to the practice of law in any state for five years or less are YLD members.
