Once a year, New Mexico residents can get their legal questions answered free or receive a referral on the Saturday closest to Law Day, May 1, through the Ask-a-Lawyer Call-in Program sponsored by the New Mexico Young Lawyers Division. Attorneys staff the phones and answer questions from across the state on a variety of topics including: employment law, divorce, child support, landlord/tenant issues, personal injury, estate planning, real estate and more.

We will host up to 10 volunteers at the State Bar Center in Albuquerque. Breakfast will be provided.
An additional 30 volunteers will be needed to participate remotely via call forwarding. The State Bar will forward calls during this time frame to your telephone number of choice so you can volunteer from your home or office! Remote volunteers will be provided eGiftcards.
In-person volunteer orientation and set-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. Telephonic volunteers will receive an instructional video ahead of time to view.
Questions from the public may include the following areas of the law: family law, landlord/tenant disputes, consumer law, personal injury, collections and more. Volunteers will indicate their practice area during sign up.
