The Wildfire Legal Assistance Hotline provided by FEMA, the American Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division and the State Bar of New Mexico Young Lawyers Division launched on June 6. Individuals who qualify for assistance will be matched with New Mexico lawyers to provide free limited legal help by calling toll free 888-985-5141 Monday through Friday 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The hotline is primarily for fire survivors/victims from Colfax, Lincoln, Mora, San Miguel, Valencia counties.
Assistance with securing FEMA and other benefits available to disaster survivors
Assistance with life, medical, and property insurance claims
Help with home repair contracts and contractors
Replacement of important legal documents destroyed in the disaster
Assistance with consumer protection matters, remedies, and procedures
Counseling on landlord/tenant and mortgage/foreclosure problems
