Voluntary Withdrawal Request

Before deciding to withdraw, please review the following:

Inactive Status or Withdrawn Status.

Benefits of applying for inactive status versus withdrawing your license:

  1. Access to Fastcase
  2. E-version of the Bar Bulletins
  3. Free Course Audits through State Bar Foundation CLE. (Exclusions: Teleseminars and other third-party content. Please check each course registration page for eligibility information.)
  4. Retain your Membership with the State Bar and avoid retaking the Bar Exam to reactivate.
  5. Free inactive status membership after the age of 70

If you choose to withdraw your license, you must complete a Withdraw Request Application, please email license@sbnm.org to receive the application.

**Please note, once withdrawn, if you ever choose to become licensed in New Mexico again, you will have to either retake the bar exam or apply under the reciprocity rule.**
