DeAnza Valencia – Out-of-State District Commissioner

DeAnza Valencia serves as Senior Legal Counsel and Government Affairs with Beatty & Wozniak, P.C., an energy and natural resources firm, working from the firm's Santa Fe office. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law, a Master of Science in Justice Studies from Arizona State University, and bachelor's degrees in Government and Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University.

Alongside her legal practice, DeAnza brings over two decades of experience in government affairs, legislative advocacy, and coalition-building at the state and federal levels. Her previous work required building consensus among diverse stakeholders across jurisdictions and representing the interests of broad, geographically dispersed constituencies, experience that translates directly to representing the State Bar's out-of-state membership.

DeAnza is active in bar and public service leadership, including as Past Chair of the State Bar of New Mexico's Elder Law Section and the New Mexico Women's Bar Association, and as a current member of the Committee on Women and the Legal Profession. She currently serves as a Board Member for the New Mexico State University Foundation and the NMHBA Foundation. She is the proud mother of Miranda Lynn Sapien, a National High School Speech and Debate Tournament Qualifier.
